Glow-worm boiler showing a F code in Tipton? What F.28 and F.22 usually mean, the checks that are safe to do yourself, and the point where it needs a gas engineer.
Read the F.28 page. The boiler made its attempts to ignite, saw no flame and locked out. Often the gas supply, sometimes the ignition parts.
Read the F.22 page. The system is short of water, so the boiler will not fire in case it overheats. Usually a gauge and a filling loop job first.
Note the exact letters and numbers, including any dot, and take a photo of the display. It lets an engineer bring the likely part on the first visit.
Glow-worm uses many more codes than these two. If yours is different, the manual lists them, and a photo sent over WhatsApp is the quickest way to get it read.
It means the boiler has shut down on purpose because something was out of range. That is the safety system working. If you ever smell gas, get outside, leave the switches alone and ring the National Gas Emergency number, 0800 111 999.
Give it one go. A code that returns straight away is telling you the cause is still there, and hammering the button will not fix it.
The two brands share a lot of engineering and many codes look alike, but do not assume. Your own manual is the one to trust.
